HEADS UP concussion training

Concussion Awareness - This course is designed to help the coaches determine if a player has sustained a concussion.  It takes twenty minutes to complete and is required for every coach for each season that he coaches.  The course is free of charge and is called -

Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports. It is an online course available to coaches, parents, and others helping to keep athletes safe from concussion. It features interviews with leading experts, dynamic graphics and interactive exercises, and compelling storytelling to help you recognize a concussion and know how to respond if you think that your athlete might have a concussion.

Once you complete the training and quiz, you can print out a certificate, making it easy to show your league or school you are ready for the season.

What You Will Learn

This course will help you:

  • Understand a concussion and the potential consequences of this injury,
  • Recognize concussion signs and symptoms and how to respond,
  • Learn about steps for returning to activity (play and school) after a concussion, and
  • Focus on prevention and preparedness to help keep athletes safe season-to-season.
Additional information is available at this link.

Background Checks

Background Checks - This check is mandated by the Township of Medford.  A coach's fingerprints and identifying information is provided to the State Police via the MorphoTrust Web Site and they respond to MYAA with whether of not the individual may coach based on his or her background check.  If the State Police does not give permission for an individual to coach, the individual may appeal the decision but MYAA will not let that person coach until the State Police report to us that the person is allowed to coach. This background check currently costs $26.50 and the individual coach needs to pay for the fee initially.  Once completed, MYAA will reimburse the coach for the fee.

If you have not had a NJ State Police Background check done before, please download this BACKGROUND CHECK FORM, fill it out, schedule and pay for a fingerprint appointment on the MorphoTrust USA Web Site.  Once you complete the fingerprinting, send a copy of the application form and receipt to MYAA, PO Box 367, Medford, NJ 08055.  Include your address and we will reimburse you for the $26 fee you paid to have the fingerprinting done.

If it has been 3 years since you had your fingerprinting done, you are required to complete a name check.  The Name check is required every 3 years.  The form should be acquired by your sport commissioner.  Unfortunately you cannot download it since it needs to be an original form and needs to be pre-filled in with information from MYAA.  Once you complete the form, you need to return in to MYAA.  A check from MYAA will be attached and the form will be sent to the State Police for processing.  The coach will be notified when the results are returned.

If you already have had a New Jersey State Fingerprint Background Check done in connection with your employment, please use the waiver form available by clicking on the following link and filling out the form available on the link and submitting per the instructions on the form.  LINK.

Volunteer

Medford Soccer Club  is a volunteer based organization. These volunteers are the core of our club! The success of all our programs is greatly dependent on the continued support from our community. We serve over 1000 youth soccer players and have a good time doing it!

Each season the club seeks volunteers to help as coaches, assistant coaches, team managers, and many other positions. The club strongly supports the development of our volunteer coaches through in-house clinics, literature, and mentoring.

Throughout the season, there are a number of behind-the-scenes activities that need to occur in order for each weekend competition to be successful. Many of these activities require very little time but are crucial to the success of Medford Soccer Club .

If you are interested in donating your time, your knowledge, your skills, and your talents to help with these efforts please contact us.
